Brooklyn’s Buzzy Detroit-Style Pizza Joint Heads to Nashville
As the saying “it’s hip to be square” goes, Nashville is about to get even hipper than it already is.
Brooklyn’s Detroit-style pizzeria, Emmy Squared, announced their first expansion outside New York City yesterday. The wildly popular Williamsburg joint, best known for their variety of deep-dish pies that come served in square-cut slices, is heading to Music City.
After opening in 2016, the original Emmy Squared outpost was an instant hit. And its signature square-shaped pies—featuring a crispy crust, chewy center, and high-quality ingredients—became a social media sensation.
Owners Emily and Matt Hyland also operate two sister pizzerias, named Emily, in Clinton Hill and the West Village. Their Nashville location is slated to open in the Gulch neighborhood (in the former 404 Kitchen space) by early 2018, Eater reports.
Emmy Squared is also home to one of the city’s most buzzed-about burgers: Le Big Matt (a juicy, double-stack of Fleisher’s beef patties, melty American cheese, and oozing Sammy sauce on a soft pretzel bun).
As big fans of this meaty masterpiece and allll the scrumptious square ’zas, we think it’s a safe bet that Emmy Squared will crush it in Nashville’s already smokin’ hot food scene.
