Burgers Get a Blast of Blais

Chipotle plans to expand its better burger concept, Tasty Made, and is calling in the big guns: celebrity chef Richard Blais. The Denver-based chain (the first location opened in Ohio last year) wants to grow the brand with the help of former Top Chef-testant and his restaurant expertise—Blais operates several SoCal eateries, from fine dining to fast-casual.

Tasty Made’s menu is simple: grilled-to-order burgers (made from responsibly-raised, hormone-free beef), hand-cut fries, sodas, and milkshakes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and Buckeye flavors. The brand boasts food made with high quality ingredients, but served at prices comparable to fast food chains.

Chipotle describes Tasty Made as a “work in progress,” but with Blais in tow, the company seems to be refocusing their efforts on the burger business. “Steve and Chipotle have had such a significant impact on reinventing fast food,” Blais said in a statement. “There is no more iconic fast food than burgers, and I have always thought that there is a way to do them on a really big scale without compromising the quality of the food or the overall restaurant experience.”

No official word yet how the notable chef will alter the menu with his culinary magic, but no doubt he’ll Blais a trail for many tasty burgers to come.
