Croissants Gone Crazy at Hotel Café Royal
Flaky, buttery, oh-so indulgent. Who doesn’t love a well-made croissant? The crescent-shaped, French breakfast staple is the latest pastry to undergo creative makeovers around the world.
We already swoon for Union Fare’s fanciful stuffed flavors—including birthday cake, red velvet, and macha—in New York City. And across the pond, Hotel Café Royal in London’s Piccadilly Circus, is taking the croissant craze to the next level with their vividly colored creations. The glamorous, masterfully-made pastries incorporate luscious layers of color and flavor (think raspberry-rose, blackcurrant-lemon, and mango-cherry), and are filled with fruity jams and jellies.
Recently, Hotel Café Royal’s Executive Pastry Chef Sarah Barber created a stunning rainbow version—and croissant lovers are going bananas for them. Sarah shares pictures and videos of the labor-intensive pastry process (they take three days to make!) on her Instagram.
