The Latest Viral Food Mashup is Making a Splash in San Fran
A taco and a croissant just had a baby. And it’s name is “Tacro.”
This monster food hybrid recently debuted at Vive La Tarte bakery in San Francisco’s landmark Ferry Terminal Building. Check ’em out:
The tacro standout is its thick, flaky, super-crunchy croissant dough shell that’s more on the savory side than your typically sweet breakfast pastry.
Each tempting tacro comes stuffed with flavorful fillings, including pulled pork, chile chicken, fresh pineapple, barbecued jackfruit, chopped pickled onions, and radishes, and comes with green avocado salsa and red salsa.
Food gimmick or not, the tacro has rapidly become a viral hit—to mixed reviews. Early social feedback proves that people love the way it tastes (and, of course, it looks dope on their feeds), but purists feel strongly that no one should mess with tacos or croissants.
Tacros are vibrant, fun, and darn delicious. So we are in the camp of thinking about ’em as an entirely unique item (and not trying to change two already great things) and are happy to embrace the new treat in all its glory.
In fact, this may just be our favorite pastry hybrid since the Cronut. Vive La Tacros!
