Miami’s World Famous House of Mac Truck Opens First Eatery
The Mac Daddy of food trucks is getting new Miami digs.
After two years of mega success as a mobile truck, the World Famous House of Mac just opened it’s first-ever, free-standing eatery in SoBe.
Since 2015, owner Derrick Turton (known as “Chef Teach”) has been serving up comfort food classics with a unique spin—including fried chicken & pumpkin spice waffles, jerk salmon pasta, and his famous mac & cheese—from his truck at the Wynwood Yard. And he’s gained hoards of die-hard fans and celebrity followers in the process.
People often line up around the block to sample Teach’s innovative Caribbean soul-food. Now they’ll have a fresh new space to devour all sorts of signature dishes like decadent truffle mac, lobster mac, pizza mac, and crispy buttermilk fried chicken with waffles. There’s vegetarian and vegan options, too.
The brick-and-mortar space officially opened its doors at 1216 Washington Avenue, in the heart of South Beach.
Celebrities including Rick Ross, NORE, Yo Gatti, Fat Joe, A$AP Mob, and Venus and Serena Williams are already fans of Chef Teach’s soulful cuisine. And the upbeat mac and cheese-centric restaurant is expected to usher in a the whole new slew of local fans.
