You Need to Sign a Waiver to Try This Dangerous Ice Cream
Want to spice things up this Valentine’s Day? An ice cream parlor in the UK has just the thing to do it.
Aldwych Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor in Glasgow, Scotland, debuted a pretty pink confection as a VDay special. But this rose-colored treat tastes far from your typical strawberry or cherry. It’s flavored with a mix of the world’s hottest chilies.
The fiery flavor, named Respiro del Diavolo (which translates to “Devil’s Breath”), includes the infamous Carolina Reaper pepper. To break it down for you, this record-breaking pepper is 500 times hotter than Tabasco and more than a hundred times hotter than a jalapeño.
So this is no doubt the world’s hottest ice cream (and quite the oxymoron).
The flavor is so spicy, in fact, that Aldwych requires daring customers to be over 18 years old and sign a waiver that frees the ice creamery from any responsibility including “personal injury, illness, and possible loss of life,” at stated in the release.
Apparently the recipe originated in Italy and is the cafe owner’s family secret. And eating the ice cream is a symbol of bravery. Brave or crazy? You be the judge.
Either way, if you dare dip into the Devil’s Breath, Aldwych’s Facebook page suggests bringing along a friend “in case you can’t handle the heat and need help getting home!”
