PepsiCo is the Newest Player in the Sparkling Water Wars
Say “hiii” to the latest line of bubbly beverages.
The competition over fizzy water domination continues, as PepsiCo just launched their latest line: bubly.
The soft drink giant’s new flavored sparkling water has an “upbeat and playful sense of humor to shake up the sparkling water category,” while not including artificial flavors, sweeteners, or calories, said the brand in a statement.
And the branding can’t help but make you smile.
PepsiCo’s carbonated collection comes in eight fruity flavors: apple, cherry, grapefruit, lemon, lime, mango, orange, and strawberry.
Each flavor features playful packaging including a greeting on the tab (like “Hey u,” “hiii,” and “yo,”) and personal messages on the can such as “I feel like I can be open around u,” “hold cans with me,” and “love at first phssst.”
“We created bubly to provide consumers with a great-tasting, flavorful, unsweetened sparkling water in a fun, playful, and relevant manner that is unlike anything we’ve seen in the sparkling water category today,” Todd Kaplan, vice president of the brand’s water portfolio, says in the official release.
The introduction of bubly comes shortly after their biggest rival, Coca-Cola, released a line of flavored Diet Coke in colorful cans, and the Times reports that bubbly is “the most direct attack yet” on crazy-popular flavored sparkling water brand LaCroix.
Only time will tell how things will shake out in the sparkling water wars. But we’re all for more tasty, bubbly options to choose from.
