This Record-Breaking Pizza Has 111 Different Types of Cheese
Say hello to the cheesiest pizza ever.
The world record for the greatest variety of cheese on a pizza was just broken (who even knew there was such a thing?).
Created by chefs Mirko Gazzari and Andrea Pellegrini of German pizza chain Vadoli, the normal-sized ’za contained an impressive 111 different cheeses.
Guinness World Records reports that the pizza was topped with 288.6 grams of cheese total, but only 2.6 grams of each variety. This was done intentionally to help the cheeses—including mozzarella, Comté, Emmental, Leicestershire red, and raclette de chèvre—stay put on the pizza instead of melting off the crust upon baking.
“We had weeks of preparation to determine the perfect amount of cheese we need to put on the pizza to be successful with our Guinness world record attempt,” chef Pellegrini told The Daily Meal.
The record was confirmed by Guinness World Records adjudicator Lena Kuhlmann, who was also assisted by a cheese expert. Guests at the promotional event were able to try the cheesy af pizza, plus nine other pies.
One guest told Guinness that the record-setting pie was “crunchy and cheesy — each piece tastes different!”
Some serious cheesiness right there.
