Chance the Rapper to Grill Nando’s Chicken For Charity
Chance the Rapper is more than just a chart-topping, hip hop star. He’s known as a hometown hero in his native Chicago and is a big-time philanthropist. Now, he can add ‘chicken slinger’ to his already impressive resume.
South African chicken chain Nando’s is world-famous for their peri-peri grilled chicken, and for drawing large crowds of both locals and celebrity clientele (remember the Kanye on the counter bit?). Since Chance is such a Nando’s devotee, he cooked up a great plan to make a difference.

The megastar will be manning the grill during the grand opening of Chicago’s newest location (next to the Nutella Café) on Tuesday—and all proceeds from September 5th – 7th will be donated to Chance’s Chicago-based, non-profit organization, SocialWorks, which helps empower youth through the arts.
“We can’t think of a better ambassador to help Nando’s celebrate the Grand Opening of our flagship Chicago location, and to help support public education in a city we love,” Sepanta Bagherpour, Nando’s USA VP of Marketing, told DNAinfo.
“Nando’s has a history of supporting public schools and community non-profits when they open new restaurants, which I really admire,” Chance said in a statement. “Besides, they make damn good chicken, so I hope everyone will come out and eat some peri-peri chicken and help us raise money for SocialWorks.”
